"Bad men cannot make good citizens. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience are incompatible with freedom."
Patrick Henry
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."
Thomas Jefferson
"In circumstances dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and Christians, to reflect that, whilst every prudent Measure should be taken to ward off the impending Judgements... All confidence must be withheld from the Means we use; and reposed only on that GOD who rules in the Armies of Heaven, and without whose Blessing the best human Counsels are but Foolishness--and all created Power Vanity...."
John Hancock
Long before women became a regular part of the work force man was giving away his responsibilities in the home. It was easier just to be the bread winner. Besides raising kids is a women’s job, right? Isn’t this what we saw our fathers do? In less than two generations we have given away our family leadership role. During this same time our country went through a period of role conflict. The genders seemed to clash as responsibilities were changing. These problems occurred because man was created to be the leader in his family. Was not stepping up to this responsibility so terrible?
I am afraid the society we live in today is suffering tremendously because we as men have not fulfilled our role as men. Our children lack wholesome values and discipline, because fathers have not been responsible for what they were designed to do best. I have chosen this area to focus on because our demise has occurred subtly and it is an area we as men can always improve upon. In order to turn our country around, we must start by being the leaders of our families.
“Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others.”
Plato (427BC-347BC)
